How much longer, Daddy?”

“Are we there yet, Mommy?”

“When are we gonna get there?”

Every parent has experienced those questions from the backseat. It might be on a long family vacation, or just across town to Grandpa and Grandma’s house.

Kids don’t like to wait. They want to know “How much longer until my birthday?” “How much longer until Christmas?” “How much longer till my friends come over?”

If we know Jesus Christ, we are God’s children, and we too ask such questions—especially in the area of Bible prophecy. Whenever I travel to speak about prophecy or give an interview, I always hear the questions: When? How much longer? When will the Rapture take place? When will the temple be rebuilt in Jerusalem? How long until Babylon will be rebuilt? When?

Even Jesus’ disciples asked Him, “When?” on several occasions (see Matthew 24:1–3; Acts 1:6–7).

Most of the time when I’m asked the when question, I have to say that we simply don’t know. But sometimes our loving Father does tell His questioning children when certain events will occur. I don’t mean that He circles a date in red on the calendar, giving the exact day or year, but He speaks in general terms that we can understand.

After identifying the nations that will invade Israel in the end times, Ezekiel addresses the when question. When will this invasion take place? The prophet provides three important clues that help us narrow down the time of this invasion. All three clues can be found in one verse: Ezekiel 38:8.

“After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which had been a continual waste; but its people were brought out from the nations, and they are living securely, all of them.”
